How To Install Mass Storage Controller Driver

After going through your description, it appears that you have an issue computer detecting Mass storage device after installing Windows 8. We need additional information to assist you in fixing the issue. It would be appreciate if you answer the followings.

Jul 19, 2010 - I had a new hard drive put into my son's Toshiba Satellite laptop and added more memory. I bought Windows 7 and installed it onto the laptop. Open the Start Menu and click 'My Computer' or 'Computer,' depending on your version of Windows. If the mass storage device appears in the 'My Computer' or 'Computer' window, then the drivers are correctly installed and the device is ready to use. If the drive does not appear, you must manually install the drivers.

1.Are you referring to Network Attached Storage or USB storage device?

2.What is the make and model of the device?

3.What is the make and model of the computer?

iam sorry iam not an expert.

HEWLETT PACKARD

MODEL PRESARIO V4000 (ER 418 DRIVER UNAVAILABLE)

also video card not installed

THIS IS THE 2 PROBLEMS INSTALLING W8

Hi,

I would suggest you to download the driver from the following link, install on your computer and check the issue status.

If you do not find the Windows 8 compatible driver, download Windows 7 compatible, install it in compatible mode.

What is program compatibility?

Making older programs compatible with this version of Windows

I have the same issue. It's my SD card reader that's not working. I have the system setup for dual boot with Windows 7 32 and Windows 8 64. The built in card reader for my xD picture card works just fine in Windows 7, but doesn't recognize anything with Windows 8. I attempted to update the non-working driver, but a driver isn't found online. I'll use your drivers suggestion and see what happens, or alternately install a Windows 7 driver.

I have Windows 7 on an Acer 9410 laptop which is no longer supported by the manufacturer as it is eight years old. Mass Storage Controller is missing. In July, I want to install Windows 10 and want to know if I will have a problem without the MS Controller. Please advise/and send any instructions on any repair. Thank You.

Thank you for the reply.

Basically if you install Windows 10, it has a list of drivers integrated in it, ideally it must automatically install the drivers.

But if the driver is not available, you will have the same problem.

In the device manager it has a question mark under Mass Storage Controller and I have tried unsuccessfully to find a driver that will load onto his machine. I can find lots of sites that want you to pay to fix the problem, but none that are free. Can anyone help. He says his computer keeps freezing and I have reloaded Windows 7 and it has not frozen since. I really need to sort the problem of the Mass Storage Controller though. Any help would be appreciated.
